Student Profiles
Trina Desjardins
Hello! My name is Trina Desjardins and I will be joining Sudbury Community Midwives in May 2010, as a senior student. As the Sudbury region is my home (I grew up in Lively), I am really excited to be spending my last year of placement in this community.
Before studying midwifery, I attended the University of Guelph and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and history. During my midwifery studies at Laurentian University, I have had the opportunity to complete placements in Belleville, Pikangikum (a First Nations community in northwestern Ontario), Ottawa, Sudbury and Toronto, and have had the great pleasure of working with wonderful women, midwives, nurses and doctors. During my free time, I enjoy skating, running, reading and spending time with friends and family.
I love working with and learning from women and feel privileged to participate in your care and be a part of your lives during this important process of pregnancy, childbirth and parenting.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future!
Courtney Dini
Hello, my name is Courtney.
I am a fourth year Laurentian University student in the Midwifery program. I have lived in Sudbury my entire life and I'm anxious to be learning the art of Midwifery in my hometown. My last placement took me to the culturally rich city of Toronto. I really enjoyed the diversity it offered. However, I am very excited to do my placement here working with pregnant women from the north. I am a 29 year old mother of three daughters, aged 9, 5, and 4, and enjoy spending time with my family. I've studied and worked as a Registered Practical Nurse and, having had some great experiences in health care, I was very happy to have had my children delivered into the hands of midwives. Now I'm anxious to have my hands delivering the babies of others.
